Maynard presents Weird Al Yankovic Over Enmore (video livestream) Sat 1st April.

Weird Al Yankovic rocked the very foundations of Australian society during his recent tour of the continent. With his hot accordion and even hotter band he left little doubt who wears the Hawaiian shirt in his relationship with his dedicated fans. Maynard interviewed Al and some of his fans at Enmore Theatre, Sydney 14th March. Watch along live and join us in the chatroom for an show no sane adult should be party to.

Weird, Weirder, Weirdest! – “Weird Al” Yankovic video special

To celebrate the “Weird Al” Yankovic epic biopic release worldwide, let’s watch some Weird Al clips. From the vault in the famous Maynard International Studios in Australia, Maynard will showcase some of his favourite Weird Al material.

Tim Ferguson will also throw some easy Weird Al questions at you, and we screen Maynard’s previously unseen interview with Al during his first tour of Australia in 2003. (He didn’t do any shows during his 1990 UHF promotional visit.)

To celebrate the release of the long awaited Mari Wilson collection on CD, Maynard presents a video livestream of more Mari Wilson video clips than you ever thought possible. There will be Mari music clips from all over the place, special guests, not so special guests, a tea towel, press clippings, dancing and a legal disclaimer.

Olivia Newton-John weekend 26th-27th August

Olivia Newton-John was one of the most talented and nicest Australians around and to celebrate her work let’s have two video livestreams over the weekend of 26th-27th August.

Maynard International Studios will present her Maynard interview and many of her music clips plus extra surprises on a video livestream on Saturday night at 8.30pm. Expect guests popping in to show their Olivia love.

But on Friday night at 8.30pm (10.30 UTC) it’s Tell Me About It, Stud!, the video livestream quiz show where you get to show off your quirky Olivia Newton-John knowledge against everyone else watching and playing along.

It will all happen at https://www.mixcloud.com/live/dj-maynard/ with pre shows starting at 8.15pm (10.15 UTC).

Maynard celebrates his opening up, and we all find out how excited the people and cats of Australia are about that.

The whole shabang has a heap of great tunes, fun and foolishness.

Almost Live From The Castanet Club – Ep 3

Be loud, be proud and prepare ye for the third and final episode of Almost Live from the Castanet Club! from the now closed Castanet Club exhibition.

With current public health orders preventing visitors from experiencing our special exhibition The Castanet Club – An exhibition you can dance to! in person, we’re bringing the fun to you with this limited release variety show.

In true Castanet Club collaborative style, we’ve gathered talented musicians, videographers, sound engineers and visual artists to produce a modern take on a classic Novocastrian attitude: get your friends together, have fun, make art and share it!

We bring you a big finish with Newcastle legends Fish Fry getting us off to a roaring start with 24 Hours from Tulsa. Maynard and Zorica demonstrate Rodney Cambridge MBE’s Lamington Recipe (concluding it’s easier to go to the bakery). Finally, Nastassja Bassi haunts us from 1986 with a beautiful version of Wuthering Heights.

Almost Live From The Castanet Club – Ep 1

Sit back, put on your most outrageous jumper, and enjoy! Newcastle Museum is proud to bring you Almost Live from the Castanet Club!

With current public health orders preventing visitors from experiencing our special exhibition The Castanet Club – An exhibition you can dance to! in person, we’re bringing the fun to you with this limited release variety show.


In true Castanet Club collaborative style, we’ve gathered talented musicians, videographers, sound engineers and visual artists to produce a modern take on a classic Novocastrian attitude: get your friends together, have fun, make art and share it!


For our first episode of Almost Live The Medley Sisters join us from 1988 and get into a banjo duel – except with a violin and an accordion. Maynard makes a special Castanet Club themed cocktail with scientist Catherine and Sprout Catering & Kitchen bartender Harry (they also chat about sedimentary rocks). We round off this electric experiment in almost live entertainment with The Lairs, who take us all the way to Las Vegas!
