Hordern Pavilion Dance Party Special

Hordern Dance Party Special with Maynard from Hordern Pavilion Dance Party Special. Maynard

With the recent passing of DJ Paul Holden I was inspired to post the entire hour of a Special I did on Rewind on Channel V in 2001. Using footage originally shot at many dance parties by Charles Amsden in 1988 – 1990. I put some memorabilia and the clips of all the original house tracks. (although I know the Rozalla track is a remix, but we couldn’t find a broadcast version of the original Everybody’s Free at that time.)

Enjoy, the show is dedicated to DJ Paul Holden and everyone else who was there.

DJ Paul Holden – In his own words

I had the pleasure to interview Mr Paul Holden and have him share some of his life in the DJ box and the dance floor.

He is no longer out there championing the cause of good grooves and vinyl.

Enjoy this time Paul Holden and myself spent on his rooftop, chatting about the feeling you get when THAT track is mixed in, among thousands, but you felt that Paul was maybe playing it just for you.

He is a part of our dance culture that many people who go to bed at 9pm might not understand, but WE were there and so was DJ Paul Holden.

Thank you for the interview Paul…

Bunga Bunga 25 Tim Ferguson & Maynard

It’s Bunga Bunga 25 and Maynard looks kind of appalled as he realises Tim will use his gift of a new megaphone for evil, not decency.

Bunga Bunga 25 has Tim Ferguson & Maynard battling a new crowd in a new Glebe cafe (Sappho) unused to the ways of Bunga. This show manages to annoy Sherlock, Culture Club & Nirvana fans. We meet Tim’s pharmacist and the two argue about the true identity of Jack The Ripper.

Plus we answer (again) once and for all the age old Autumn affront: Are Tights Pants?

What Double J SHOULD Sound Like show 92

One of the shows I have a great time recording whenever they will have me is; What Double J Should Sound Like where Campbell, Jay Katz & Mr Hickey fight against the bland out of linear radio.

I joined them for show 91 & 92 today and we had a time that you may well enjoy.

Show 91 includes Prince, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Rebel MC & The Mohawks plus some very stoner sounds from the 60s.

Show 92 has Supernaut, KLF, Peter Miller, the controversial Crush, The Cure, Tim Ferguson serving it up to Thompson Twins, a special song about this week’s featured element of the Periodic Table, Magic Carpet Ride und more.

Debbie Harry Interview 1990

Debbie Harry came into the Triple J studios in William St, Kings Cross the night after her Sydney show at Enmore Theatre in March 1990. I was told I only had 5 minutes and I tried to make the most of it with a bemused Ms Harry.

It was probably the first time I’d had someone as famous as her actually in the studio, usually they had been on the phone. This was pre recorded to good onto my Triple J Breakfast show the following morning. Chris Norris produced the interview up while I tried to get a few hours sleep.

We covered perhaps the most important question of all that Deborah Harry has ever been asked; What exactly is your favourite disco song?

Bunga Bunga 24 Tim Ferguson & Maynard

Bunga Bunga 24 with Tim Ferguson & Maynard proves once again that cats will save democracy and look cute doing it. But what of Tim’s cat Kitler? What exactly is Kitler plotting in Tim’s Fortress of Arrogance? Maynard has been invited to this frosty yet smelly destination to ask Tim’s opinion of comedy critics, Communists and Melissa Tkautz. Bunga Bunga promises you the dear listener, a white knuckle ride to the very end of a show in search of a format.

This show is for James Travel & Dr Rachie. Our two latest Patreon supporters.

Frank Bennett Swings

The legendary Frank Bennett played Lizottes in Newcastle recently and Maynard was there to capture the swinging’ groove & atmosphere. Along with Pete Porker & Mitch Capone a classy evening was almost had by all. Seeing Frank Bennett in his undies only added to the 1960s vibe of the show. Go see him live people.

Have a look at Frank Bennett’s Facebook page for his next show.

Bunga Bunga 23 Tim Ferguson & Maynard

Bunga Bunga 23 comes to you direct from the Tim Ferguson Fortress of Arrogance, where Maynard & Kitler the cat listen to Tim rant on the most important political happenings from Australia’s history. But more importantly, are Star Wars, Dr Who, Prince or Morrissey really any good?

Catch up on the upcoming DAAS and Maynard live shows and discover Tim’s favourite Spice Girl. But just how many of them has Maynard met.

Bring out your sacred cows, Ferguson is hungry.

DJ Paul Holden returns for Jack The House 2

DJ Paul Holden has been working for 36 years as a DJ across Australia. He was behind the Bacchanalia parties during the Dance Party years of 1988-92, which are the sounds that he’ll be playing at Jack The House 2 this Friday night at The Sly Fox in Sydney.

Sitting on his rooftop in Sydney, Paul Holden elaborates on what he’ll be playing in his set and what still excites him about being a DJ. AND about the satin tracksuit outfit that is his secret weapon for this weekend.

Bunga Bunga 22 Tim Ferguson & Maynard

Bunga Bunga 22 has Tim Ferguson calling you out for your slacktivism. Maynard tries to warm Tim to the sound of The Thompson Twins & we have a close shave with the Trumpster. Tim Ferguson & Maynard return in Bunga Bunga 22, offering you information and experience that only a lifetime of looking the wrong way can achieve. More fun than a poo, it’s Bunga Bunga 22.
