The Coldest 100 was the creation of Andrew Sholl on Twitter in 2016 and has been the Giddy Uncle of Triple J’s Hottest 100 ever since. Anyone can have a guess at the hottest song of the year, but who has ever nominated the Bunnings theme or Kylie Minogue performing her version of Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep?
Andrew only does this on Twitter (he has a real job) and releases his Coldest 100 in parallel with what ever number Triple J is up too.
The Coldest 100 can best be described as questionable songs by Australians and about Australia. So Andrew Sholl sat down with me at The Madame Frou Frou Cafe to sample a sixpack of his 100 cold ones.
Here are a selection of 2019 Coldest 100 entries on YouTube. A list of The Coldest 100 from 100 to 75 is below. You’ll have to wait till January 27th to find out the worst coldest of The Coldest 100.

Gay icon Lance Leopard pays tribute to Doris Goddard, and confides for the first time how The Hollywood Hotel songbird stole his cult classic short film Boots “and rightly so”, and his heart. “We love you Doris.”
Let’s go to discover why the legendary lady of Sydney’s Hollywood Hotel still fascinates.
I’m Lance Leopard, the tall star of short films.
My First Film
Boots, was shot on location at said Hollywood Hotel. I recall having to summon the feelings, the Walk, the addled emotions I’d need to convincingly play a drunkard. Tough stuff. I decided to just play my unfortunate little brother. AND JUST AT THAT MOMENT…. The set suddenly seemed to go pink. GLOWED. Ms Doris Goddard had materialized, pretty in pink to visit our set. Wiglet in place, head-to-toe Mansfield Pink. Oversized Sophia Loren Sunglasses. Doris is a great Actress. I looked round in wonder. And said it: “Oh my. This does take me back!” Yep, back to 1957 when leggy showgirl Doris Goddard starred with Bob Hope in The Iron Petticoat. And wiped Katherine Hepburn off the screen.
I felt a chill. Was I, too to be wiped off the screen? I was billed above the title! Doris, who isn’t even a distant relation to Paulette Goddard, joined & enhanced our movie to the Nth Degree. She was filmed singing our title song….HER WAY. Like, whos Nancy Sinatra? Never heard of her. Totally.
Oh, This Takes Me Back
SOOO… I had Boots click into re-release on line. Its my way of sharing the The Goddard Factor with fans that she has yet to know. All you campers. I hope you enjoy Boots. I did. You’ll love me getting the shit beaten out of me by 50 vengeful go-go dancers! I believe youll love Annette Evans miming to Nancy in the closing production number. I do. Stick around for the end credits- and thats an order, dears.
Fall in love with Goddard’s live version, it’s a gem. Dramatically playing guitar with a flamenco flair that makes the night sing. Here’s to you, lady. Because what’s right is right. And you ain’t been wrong yet. Your a true Star. Im only a fan. How does THAT grab you, Darlin’?
March for Science happened in Sydney Saturday morning, with Adam Spencer, Kirsten Banks and many others putting their feet forward for all things evidence based.
We were there for The Skeptic Zone, with Richard Saunders doing the camera and editing work.
The Skeptic Zone show #495 with the audio from the morning is here.
Foxtel’s Channel V sent me along to the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade in 1999, along with Andrew Mercado and B1 & B2 we had quite the evening.
Maynard was in the thick of the 2006 Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade, you will be too after watching this 28th Mardi Gras parade.
Join Bob Downe, Molly Meldrum, Lara Bingle, Miss Wagga Wagga, Newcastle Queens and the very appealing Brokeback Mormans as they all celebrate the theme of “I Believe”.
This is a higher quality video than previously available online, although Maynard’s performance is still in lo fi.
Maynard was the host of Planet Fx, a Sci-Fi comedy/geek/music/variety show every weekday afternoon for 2 years when Foxtel first started in Australia in 1995 & 1996, before he went of to host music television (remember when that was a thing) on Red Tv and Channel V.
Here are two clips from the Planet Fx show one with Bob Downe (Mark Trevorrow) singing Xanadu (to a backing track, he is not lip syncing) and one featuring a phone call to a Triple J regular Mrs Fred Sinatra of Las Vegas (who is actually lip synced, as you’ll see from the video).
